This organic kitchari spice mix can be used in making Kitchari, an Indian comfort food. Our seasoning blend is made with all organic spices, including turmeric, coriander, cumin, mustard, ginger, fenugreek, ajwain, and Himalayan pink salt.
INGREDIENTS:
1 TBSP Grassfed Organic Ghee, or Grassfed Organic Cultured Ghee1 teaspoon Kitchari Spice Mix1 cup Kitchari (uncooked)3 1/2 cups water
INSTRUCTIONS:1. Prepare the kitchari by rinsing in a colander. Then, in a heavy-bottomed stockpot, melt the ghee.
2. Add the washed kitchari and sauté for a couple minutes.
3. Then, add the water, along with the kitchari spice mix. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer partly covered for approximately 20 minutes or until it reaches the consistency of a stew. Add more water if needed. Stir occasionally.
4. Pour in bowls and serve hot. Garnish with ghee and cilantro leaves.
*(1/4 teaspoon of this spice blend has about 0.15 grams of salt (which translates to 60 mg of sodium)
